Won’t work with TP-link or other 3rd part extenders, telstra guarantees it works with their own wifi extenders.
Some devices not compatible with the wifi 7 features of the smart modem 4
In the smart modem 4 wifi settings ->
Change from wifi 7 to wifi 6
Disable power saving (APSD)
Disable "Band Steering"
First time I did the the bigpond modem started having kittens, couldn’t log into modem login page, saying incorrect password and internet dropping in and out constantly, had to factory reset the telstra smart modem 4, wait 20 minutes for it to reboot and repeat the steps, same with tp-link device, factory reset, do it again.
